Chuck brings 5 decades of business and IT experience with him.

From 1998-2008, he was an owner of Pro Relational Systems (“PRS”), a consulting and application development firm specializing in business intelligence. 

His experiences include the analysis, design, implementation, training and support of business intelligence, data warehouse and decision support system environments in a variety of engagements for clients including: Clorox, E.&J. Gallo Winery, PepsiCo, Information Resources, Inc. (IRI), Unilever, The Broad Institute, Zeltiq, Align Technology, Harte-Hanks, Accenture, PWC, Awarepoint, Deloitte, McKesson, UMass Medical, Irish Life, UC Irvine and many others   . 

In 2005, PRS became Tableau’s first consulting partner.  In 2008, Chuck joined Tableau Software to start their Professional Services group.   In 2011, Chuck “retired”, back to the independent consulting world.

In addition to the current consulting offerings, Chuck does speaking engagements, and, conducts training sessions on the use of Tableau Software products, visual analytics, data warehouse design, and other business intelligence topics, at both the technical and the executive levels.

Scott W. Bauguess
Deputy Chief Economist, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission
Deputy Director of the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis

Dr. Bauguess is Deputy Chief Economist for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Deputy Director of the Division of Economic and Risk Analysis. 

In these roles, Dr. Bauguess oversees the Division’s risk assessment and custom analytics programs to enhance monitoring and investigation programs across the SEC, specifically in the areas of corporate issuers, broker dealers, and asset managers.  He directs the Commission’s economic analyses in recommendations to the Commission to enact federal rules related to corporate disclosure and governance, accounting standards, structured finance, and OTC derivatives.  His service also includes the business management of the Agency’s Tips, Complaints, and Referral (TCR) system, which was launched in 2010 to accelerate the detection of market misconduct.

Dr. Bauguess joined the SEC in 2007 from Texas Tech University where he was on faculty in the College of Business, and continues to teach graduate courses in corporate financial policy at George Washington University. Dr. Bauguess received his Ph.D. in Finance from Arizona State University in 2004. He also holds a B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and prior to his doctoral studies spent six years working as an engineer in the high tech industry.

David Burgstahler
President of the American Accounting Association

David Burgstahler is the President of the American Accounting Association (2016-17), and is the Julius A. Roller Professor of Accounting at the University of Washington. David has taught at the University of Washington since 1981, where he previously served as Acting Dean in the School of Business and Associate Dean for Masters Programs and Executive Education. He earned his Ph.D. from The University of Iowa. David has published widely in peer-reviewed journals including The Accounting Review, Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory, Issues in Accounting Education, and Contemporary Accounting Research. He is currently an Editor of The Accounting Review, serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting, and served as Associate Editor (1997-2000) and Editorial Board Member (2000-04) of Accounting Horizons, The Accounting Review (1983-86) and (1992-2003), Auditing: A Journal of Practice & Theory (multiple years) and on the Editorial Board of several other peer-reviewed journals.

David has over thirty years experience teaching, has served on over fifty Ph.D. Supervisory Committees, thirty Doctoral Dissertation Reading Committees, and has presented his research at over sixty-five conferences.  He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence and is the recipient of the University of Washington’s Schoeller Senior Fellow (2014-15), AAA’s Notable Contributions to Accounting Literature Award (2002), Beta Alpha Psi Professor of the Year (multiple years) and has been awarded numerous faculty fellowships and research grants.

Liza Prossnitz
Director in the National SEC Department
BDO, LLP

Liza Prossnitz is a Director in BDO’s National Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Department.  She reviews registration statements and Form 10-Ks for compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules and regulations. Liza designed and wrote BDO’s Practice Aids on Complex Financial Instruments and Debt Modification accounting, two of the technical accounting areas in which she consults with engagement teams.

While at Arthur Andersen in the Professional Standards Group, she rewrote the SEC section of the Firm’s accounting database (ARM) for presentation on the web, kept the SEC section of ARM current, and wrote SEC newsletters.

At BDO, Liza writes/edits the SEC Reporting and SEC Update courses for the AICPA. At Andersen, she wrote two 40-hour interactive web-based SEC Registration and Reporting course. At CCH, Liza authored the book, SEC Disclosures Checklists.

Liza lectures regularly on the fundamentals of SEC accounting and disclosure and is a frequent presenter on complex financial instruments. She is a CPA, a member of the AICPA and the Illinois CPA Society. Liza belongs to the Illinois CPA Society’s Accounting Principles Committee and won the Society’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award.

She holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from Vassar College. Liza is a member of a great books group, sailor, gourmet cook, avid reader of Shakespeare, frequent traveler to Provence, and mother of two grown daughters when she is not writing SEC materials.
