The Ninth International Conference of the JIAR

Call for Submissions

The Ninth International Conference of the Journal of International Accounting Research (JIAR) will be held June 23-24, 2022, preceded by the JIAR Doctoral / New Faculty Consortium on June 22, 2022. Although we had hoped to be in person, we are happy to announce that we can meet in a virtual setting that will preserve the key elements of our traditional program.

The goal of the conference is to expand the diversity and scope of international accounting research, through increased understanding and awareness of the challenges and opportunities of international accounting. Original and rigorous research will provide academics, practitioners, and regulators with deeper insights into international accounting issues.

We welcome innovative and high-quality international accounting research related to all areas (financial, managerial, audit, and tax) and using a variety of research methods. Papers using exclusively U.S. data need to clearly discuss the implications for and relevance to international accounting research. Papers can be submitted for consideration in one of two tracks: Plenary Session submissions or Concurrent Session submissions. We especially encourage submissions from new accounting researcher and doctoral students.

Important Deadlines
Paper Submission Deadline: March 15, 2022, 11:59 pm EDT.
Doctoral / New Faculty Consortium Application Deadline: March 31, 11:59 pm EDT.

The regular submission fee of $250 will be waived. Accepted Plenary Session papers will be published in the Journal of International Accounting Research conditional on satisfactory responses to reviewer and editor comments. Additionally, for accepted papers, the conference will waive the registration fee for one presenting author. Authors submitting to JIAR in this way should include two statements in their cover letter to the senior editor: (1) that they wish to have the paper considered for the JIAR Conference Plenary Session; (2) whether they would like the paper to be considered for inclusion in a Concurrent Session in the event it is not selected for the Plenary Session. Please contact the senior editor, Steven Lin, at swlin@memphis.edu with any questions about the submission and review process.

Papers submitted to the Concurrent Sessions will be considered for presentation at the JIAR conference, but not for publication in the Journal of International Accounting Research. Submissions for the concurrent sessions only should be made via email to JIARCONFERENCE@gmail.com.  Separate files with the title page and blinded manuscript should be attached.
