DHAHRAN

King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) was established in 1963 in Dhahran, which is located in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province. Dhahran is the location where, in 1935, an American company called Standard Oil drilled the first commercially viable oil well and later established the Arabian American Oil Company (ARAMCO).
Dammam, Dhahran, and Al Khobar form the Greater Dammam area, a blend of old-world and modern architecture, offering a variety of entertainment for foodies and shoppers alike. The entire city has been revitalized with numerous international cuisines, cafes, and shopping centers, such as the Mall of Dhahran, one of the largest shopping centers in Saudi Arabia.

Al Khobar Corniche is a must-see attraction in the year's cooler months. Take a walk along the Arabian Gulf and enjoy refreshments at the promenade. The Corniche offers multiple play areas for kids, a lovely jogging and cycling path, and a beautiful seafront view.

Nearby is Half-Moon Bay beach, with multiple exciting activities to enjoy, such as camel rides and quadbikes over the sand dunes.

Learn about the local culture at the Heritage Centre Dammam. This museum depicts various aspects of regional life in Saudi Arabia. It also has an exciting collection of local Bedouin crafts, traditional costumes, Islamic pottery, and prehistoric tools.

The King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, also known as Ithra is a museum located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. 

Take a day trip to Bahrain
The city of Dhahran overlooks the Kingdom of Bahrain, a famous scene for its broad selection of restaurants, entertainment, and world-famous Formula 1 Grand Prix. Take a day trip to Bahrain by car (or taxi), along the picturesque King Fahd Causeway.

Dammam Corniche: 
The Dammam Corniche is a 30-kilometer-long waterfront promenade that offers stunning views of the Arabian Gulf, and is located about 20 minutes’ drive from KFUPM. It is a popular spot for walking, jogging, cycling, and relaxing by the sea.

Malls

Mall of Dhahran is a large shopping mall with a variety of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. It is a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. Mall of Dhahran is located about 3 KM from KFUPM.

IKEA Dhahran  is also located about 3KM from KFUPM, and is opposite the Mall of Dhahran.  
 

Al-Rashid Mall is a large shopping mall with a variety of stores, restaurants, and entertainment options. It is a popular destination for locals and tourists, and is located approximately 15 minutes’ drive from KFUPM.
 

Al Othaim Mall is about 20 minutes drive from KFUPM.
