To be awarded CPE credit you must check-in to the sessions via the meeting app while at the meeting. Download the mobile app to your smartphone or tablet before you go to the meeting. Check-in via the meeting app to verify your session attendance by following these steps:

  • Open the 2024 American Taxation Association Midyear Meeting app on your smartphone or tablet.
  • Click on the Agenda Icon.
  • Select the session you are attending.
  • Locate the “Check In” Icon within your session and tap on it.
  • You will be asked to enable your camera, choose “Allow”.
  • Scan the QR code displayed in the back of the room to check-in and check-out.

Note: The “Check In” icon will NOT appear until 30 minutes before the session begins.

At any time, you can return to the dashboard and tap on the "Sessions Scanned" icon to check if your scans have been successfully completed. The meeting app will be available on your phone or tablet until March 16.

 

Learning Objectives for Midyear Meeting:

  • Identify the research questions examined and the research methods used in conducting current academic and legal tax accounting research
  • Increase awareness of the challenges faced by under-represented minorities in the accounting profession with a focus on solutions
  • Review recently enacted tax legislation and explore current legislative proposals and processes
  • Identify new tax teaching and learning approaches and understand the latest CPA Evolution developments

Learning Objectives for Doctoral Consortium:

  • Able to employ additional tools in teaching, focused on increasing student engagement and use of new media in the classroom.
  • Able to identify and assess new data sources for accounting research.
  • Able to more effectively evaluate your research and the research of other scholars.
  • Provided tools and best practices for presenting academic research and presenting complex topics in the classroom.
  • Provided tools to navigate the academic job market and the first years in a new career.

Learning Objectives for Teaching and Curriculum Conference:

  • Identify new teaching practices in taxation.
  • Identify new ways to integrate challenges facing the profession into the taxation curriculum.
  • Learn about recent topics facing standard-setters and the profession, specifically the pipeline, ESG and the new CPA exam.
  • Learn about the issues facing practitioners in the taxation profession.
  • Identify the skills needed by professionals entering a career in taxation.

 

CPE Information

  • Attendees can earn up to 7.2 CPE credits at the Doctoral Consortium.
  • Attendees can earn up to 8.4 CPE credits at the Teaching and Curriculum Conference.
  • Attendees can earn up to 12.4 CPE credits at the Midyear Meeting.

Refunds and Cancellations:

All cancellations must be received in writing. Send cancellation requests to the AAA at the address above or email them to info@aaahq.org. Cancellation requests received after January 22, 2024, will incur a $50.00 cancellation charge. No refunds will be available for cancellations after February 5, 2024, or for no-shows.
