Cognitive Bias and the Design Thinking Approach
Ed is an Executive Director in KPMG’s Audit Innovation Group. Ed leads a team that participates in large-scale innovation efforts involving emerging technologies, research and development, and culture change.
Prior to joining KPMG, Ed led the innovation group at a leading professional services firm; was a management consultant for global pharmaceutical, technology, and media companies; served as CEO of a social software and analytics company; and was a partner in a New York City law firm. Ed has taught finance at New York University, co-authored The Hyper-Social Organization (McGraw-Hill), and speaks frequently on technological disruption and the impact of organizational cultures on innovation.
Ed holds a law degree from New York Law School and an MBA degree in information systems and management from New York University.
Ann C. Dzuranin, Northern Illinois University

Defining Data and Analytics Skillsets and Identifying Learning Objectives
Dr. Ann C. Dzuranin is the Dean’s Distinguished Professor of Analytics in Accounting at Northern Illinois University. She earned her B.S. from Fairleigh Dickinson University, her MBA from New York University, and her Ph.D. from the University of South Florida. Ann is a CPA (NJ) with 15 years of experience in both public and corporate accounting.
Ann conducts behavioral research in management accounting decision making and the ways in which accounting information systems interact with those decisions. Her publications include Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Information Systems, Journal of Business Ethics, Management Accounting Quarterly, Journal of Corporate Accounting and Finance, and the Journal of Accounting Education.
Ann received the 2018 American Accounting Association’s Innovation in Accounting Education Award for her work in data analytics curriculum development. Ann’s work in data analytics has resulted in invitations to present on Data Analytics and Accounting curriculum at both academic and professional conferences. Her presentations have reached over 2,000 people and her materials have been shared with more than 70 universities.

What's Your Issue? An Auditing Interview with Purpose
L. Wayne Hoover, CFI®, is Senior Partner of Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, Inc. (WZ) and the International Association of Interviewers (IAI), a company affiliated with WZ, as well as Vice President of Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI®) Programming. IAI provides the certification process for qualified Interviewers and Interrogators to become a CFI®.
He is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI®) and a member of the CFI® Advisory Board, Senior Editor and Publisher for the CFInsider Journal as well as a member of the International Law Enforcement Educators Trainers Association (ILEETA).
Starting his career with WZ in 1991, Wayne has conducted thousands of interviews and interrogations for both the private and public sectors. He has also conducted well over 1000 seminars on Interview and Interrogation Techniques, both domestically and internationally. He has spoken at numerous national and international conferences including the ILEETA Conference, National Child Advocacy Conference (NCAC), National Retail Federation (NRF), Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA), Food Marketing Institute (FMI), Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), and numerous Chapters of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), among many others.
Wayne was a member of the Illinois Fire & Police Commissioners Association for 6 years and Police
Commissioner for the North Aurora, Illinois Police Department. Wayne graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois where he received a B.S. degree in Criminal Justice. He currently resides with his family in the Chicago area.
Wayne is a Certified Forensic Interviewer (CFI®). To qualify for this distinction, a person must pass a standardized examination, which covers a series of topics regarding the interviewing and interrogation process. The CFI® demonstrates understanding of legal aspects of interviewing and proficiency in interview preparation, behavioral, analysis, accusatory and non-accusatory interviewing, documentation, and presentation of findings. The objective of this certification program is to create comprehensive, universally accepted professional standards combined with an objective measure of an interviewer’s knowledge of those standards.
Tawei (David) Wang, DePaul University

An Overview of Data Privacy Regulations
Dr. Tawei (David) Wang received his Ph.D. from Krannert Graduate School of Management, Purdue University in 2009. His research interests are information security management and IT management. His papers have appeared in several leading journals, including Accounting Horizons, Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Information and Management, Information Systems Journal, Information Systems Research, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Journal of Banking and Finance, Journal of Information Systems, among others. He received several research awards and is currently the 2nd most productive researcher in AIS archival research based on the BYU ranking. His articles have been downloaded about 30,000 times through the Science Direct network. His paper about information security risk factors won the AIS Section Notable Contribution to the Literature Award in 2018. He was the co-guest editor of a cybersecurity special issue at the Journal of Information Systems and a speaker of cybersecurity and analytics at the 2019 AAA AIS Bootcamp. He was also involved in the development of cybersecurity curriculum guidelines by ACM. He mainly teaches data analytics and has been invited by universities and conferences around the world to discuss analytics curriculum design and teaching strategies. He was a speaker and a facilitator at a CAE roundtable about analytics hosted by IIA and has arranged student analytics projects with companies’ internal audit functions. He was also selected to be the KPMG James Marwick Professor in Residence in 2018. He is currently the president elect for the AAA Midwest Region.
