Charge
The Accounting Career Center is an online platform at the AAA designed to support those looking for careers in accounting, including but not limited to, accounting doctoral students seeking their first position and those seeking positions later in their career. The Accounting Career Center also operates an in-person recruiting forum at the AAA Annual Meeting.
Specifically, the Committee will:
- Plan events around the AAA Annual Meeting as it relates to recruiting and career services.
- Evaluate Career Center performance and surveys.
- Discuss whether any changes or alterations are needed.
- Serve as a sounding board for new initiatives proposed.
- Consider a virtual recruiting event option.
Membership
- New Committee members are appointed prior to the Annual Meeting by the AAA Management Team.
- The Committee shall consist of nine members including a Chair appointed prior to the Annual Meeting by the AAA Management Team, all serving staggered three-year terms. In years during which a Chair-Elect serves the committee shall consist of ten members.
- The Chair-Elect serves for one year, then serves as Chair for two years. Note: During 2025-206, the AAA Management Team will appoint a Chair-Elect who serves for one year during 2025-2026, then serves as Chair for two years during 2026-2028.
- The Board Liaison is the Director-Focusing on Membership.
Meetings
- Committee meetings will be scheduled at the discretion of the Chair.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill the Committee charge above.
- Barbara Gutierrez, (barbara.gutierrez@aaahq.org), Governance Manager, assists with providing logistical support for committee meetings and conference calls.
- If the Chair has any questions about the charge or responsibilities of this committee, s/he should contact the Chief Executive Officer, the President, or the committee’s Board of Directors Liaison.
- The Chair must submit at least one report per year to the Board of Directors by September 30. This report should include accomplishments and suggested modifications and should be sent to the AAA President, the committee's Board of Directors Liaison, and Governance Manager, Barbara Gutierrez (barbara.gutierrez@aaahq.org).
