President-Elect

Giorgio Gotti

Statement of Interest
The AAA started playing an important role in my professional career when I attended the first Doctoral Consortium organized by the International Accounting Section (IAS) during my PhD at The University of Tennessee. I enjoy serving the AAA members and I feel my experiences within the AAA make me well qualified to hold this important position.

Working for Institutions at the border between the US and Mexico, with challenges and opportunities related to the unique students’ population, gave me insights and direct experience that inform my involvement with the DEIB initiatives that have been the focus of the AAA Board since I joined in 2020.

The Director-Focusing on International co-chairs the Global Gathering with the current President. These meetings and collaborations with other Academic Accounting Associations around the world offer an extraordinary opportunity for the AAA to become a more global, welcoming, kind, empathetic community of thought leaders in accounting.

Statement of Interest
My involvement with AAA began as a doctoral student and has continued for over 30 years. AAA has provided me with tremendous educational, research, and service experiences over those years---most of the experiences I would never have imagined when sitting in my undergraduate accounting class wondering why my balance sheet didn’t balance!

As higher education, including accounting education, continues to evolve, I would welcome the opportunity to serve as AAA president and give back to the academy and profession that have positively influenced my career in numerous ways. If elected, I will focus on ensuring that the AAA remains relevant and accessible while serving as a resource for all involved in advancing accounting education, research, and practice.

Vice President-Finance-Elect

Eric D. Bostwick

Statement of Interest
In an organization comprised of accountants, many highly qualified individuals could serve as Vice President-Finance, and I would count it an honor to serve in this role. In addition to being a professor at the University of West Florida, I have also served as chair, assistant/associate dean, and interim dean/dean across two schools. My PhD in Accountancy is from The University of Mississippi, I hold an active CPA license, and I serve as treasurer for two not-for-profits. Although I have received research and service awards, I value most highly the teaching awards from students and peers which underscore my primary calling and passion. Within the AAA, I have gotten to know and work with terrific people through all levels of regional leadership, on AAA Council, and on task force and committee assignments; and I would welcome the opportunity to continue to serve our AAA members as Vice President-Finance.

I am thankful for the opportunity to be considered for the Director-Focusing on Membership. My extensive involvement with AAA in various capacities over 25 years provides me with the qualifications needed for the position. Because I have benefited personally and professionally from my membership in AAA, I want to show current and potential members how AAA membership can provide them similar rewards.
