Kurt S. Schulzke, JD, MS – Applied Statistics, MAcc, CPA, CFE is an Associate Professor of Accounting & Law in the Mike Cottrell College of Business at the University of North Georgia. Kurt teaches Advanced Analytics for Accounting & Auditing, Auditing Analytics, and Leadership, Communication & Professional Skills in the MAcc program, and has taught Auditing, Fraud Examination, and Accounting Information Systems in the undergraduate program.

Friday Lunch: Forensic Accounting & Fraud Examination Skills–A View from a Practitioner

Vic is a retired Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation having served 25 years in various capacities including a “street agent,” executive management, and Chief Division Counsel. For most of his career he was a squad supervisor responsible for complex investigations involving bank fraud, white-collar crime, and corruption. He played leadership roles in both the Enron and WorldCom investigations.

He is an attorney and CPA and holds various credentials relating to fraud and forensic accounting. Vic founded The Hartman Firm, LLC, in Atlanta, Georgia specializing in internal investigations, forensic accounting, and fraud mitigation consulting. He represents whistleblowers and has been a court appointed Receiver and Examiner. He is also an international speaker on the topic of fraud, and provides continuing education courses for attorneys, accountants, and fraud examiners.

Vic is an adjunct Professor at Georgia State University where he teaches a Masters’ level forensic accounting course. He is the author of the book, The Honest Truth About Fraud: A Retired FBI Agent Tells All. Vic is the editor of the Fraud Column in New Perspectives, the Journal of the Association of Healthcare Internal Auditors. He is also on the editorial advisory board of the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting. Vic is a former member of Georgia Southern University’s Forensic Accounting Advisory Board.
