2026 GNP & PIES Doctoral / New Scholars Consortium

The 2026 GNP & PIES Doctoral / New Scholars Consortium will be held in conjunction with the 2026 GNP & PIES Research Conference in Durham, NH at the University of New Hampshire.  The Consortium is designed for Ph.D. students and new scholars that are interested in GNP and/or PIES research/teaching activities.

Open to - Doctoral students and 1st-3rd year assistant professors who have an interest in GNP and/or PIES topics in accounting.

AAA Membership -  As an applicant, if you have not yet joined the AAA’s GNP and/or PIES sections, (student) membership information can be found at: https://my.aaahq.org/Membership#membershipTiers. Please note that membership will need to be established before applying to the Consortium, as you will need an AAA Member number to complete the application.

Outline of Program – The GNP & PIES Doctoral / New Scholars Consortium provides an exciting opportunity to bring together new and established researchers to exchange ideas, share experiences and build connections.  At this event, we will host a welcome breakfast (at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, March 20th) for doctoral students, new scholars, and mentoring faculty members. The consortium events will follow from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. and will cover research, teaching, and services opportunities within the GNP and PIES space. Experts in GNP and PIES will lead the discussions and panels. Notably, the consortium will run parallel to day one of the GNP & PIES Research Conference. Attendees of the Consortium will be able to attend/participate in the GNP & PIES Research Conference (i.e., late afternoon program on day 1 and full program on day 2).  

Deadline to Apply - Wednesday, November 5, 2025.  
Acceptance Decisions - Notices on acceptance decisions will be sent out by Sunday, December 1, 2025. With these notices - (a) a limited number of scholarship opportunities will be made available and (b) accepted applicants will be promoted to register for the consortium and the conference. 


Application is closed

OPTIONAL:  For the doctoral consortium, the GNP / PIES sections are accepting early-stage papers on any government, nonprofit, public interest, ethics, and sustainability accounting research topic. We encourage you to submit your papers to the conference. Please submit your paper by the deadline of Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at 11:59 pm EST.
