The AAA is excited to partner with Volunteers of America of Illinois for the Service Project at the 2015 Annual Meeting!
What is the Service Project?
The AAA Service Project began at the 2011 Annual Meeting in Denver, Colorado with a donation of more than 500 backpacks to the Denver School System.
Each year since, as part of our Annual Meeting, we partner with a nonprofit organization in the city where the meeting is held. Thanks to the generosity of our members, we have been able to donate more than 500 backpacks each year filled with school supplies for children who may not otherwise have supplies for school.
As the largest community of accountants in academia, we are delighted and proud to be able to make a difference in the lives of so many children by providing them with basic school supplies and the opportunity for educational success in the new school year.
This year we are excited to partner with Volunteers of America of Illinois (VOAIL) at the Annual Meeting in Chicago. VOAIL has been meeting the critical needs of children and families since 1896. Each year, VOAIL serves children, families, and veterans through a broad continuum of child welfare services including foster care, family reunification, adoption, and two housing campuses designed specifically for veterans and their children. Through Operation Backpack, VOAIL distributes new backpacks filled with school supplies to children in two Chicago Public Schools in low income neighborhoods, children of the veterans they serve, and approximately 175 children in VOAIL’s foster care program.
