Your tax-deductible donation (U.S.) is used to provide support for all costs associated with ShelterBox worldwide deployments, including but not limited to: lifesaving equipment, response teams, transportation and collaboration with local or international partners. ShelterBox USA earns Charity Navigator’s highest “4-Star” rating as well as a “Gold” status from GuideStar.

What is ShelterBox?
ShelterBox is the premier international disaster relief charity that provides immediate emergency shelter and other lifesaving aid to survivors of disasters such as earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, droughts, hurricanes, tsunamis or humanitarian crises.
ShelterBox aid is tailored to each disaster but typically includes tented shelter, thermal blankets and groundsheets, water purification equipment, solar lights, cooking utensils, a tool kit, mosquito nets and children’s activity packs.
ShelterBox Response Team members are highly-trained civilian volunteers who deploy with the aid and ensure it is delivered to the survivors who need it most. They distribute aid on the ground, working closely with local organizations, government officials, and international aid agencies. ShelterBox aid is transported by any means available: truck, boat, camel, sled, or by hand.
The Aid they deliver
In 2017, ShelterBox assisted 160,000 people worldwide including in the US in Texas after Hurricane Harvey, in 6 countries in the Caribbean after Hurricanes Irma and Maria, 7 countries affected by conflict-associated displacement, and numerous other countries affected by natural disasters and conflict.
ShelterBox has responded to some of the largest humanitarian crises the modern world has ever known: Hurricane Matthew in Haiti in 2016, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2010 Haiti earthquake, and one of the biggest storms to ever make landfall – Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines in 2013.
ShelterBox continues to provide relief to Caribbean countries affected by hurricanes Irma and Maria, survivors of drought and famine in Somaliland, and to refugees fleeing conflict in the Lake Chad Basin of Africa, Bangladesh, Syria and Iraq.

What is the Service Project?
The Service Project was born out of the generous nature of the AAA’s members and their desire to give back to the local communities in the cities where the Annual Meeting was held. From 2011 through 2016, on behalf of its members, the AAA supported local communities with donations of thousands of new backpacks filled with school supplies.
In 2017, the AAA began taking a more global approach to giving back and helping those who may otherwise go without by partnering with ShelterBox. The donations collected were used to provide essential emergency shelter and lifesaving equipment to families displaced due to natural disasters or humanitarian crises across the world. We look forward to another year of partnering with ShelterBox and providing aid to children and families affected by natural disasters and conflict.
